GRAMMAR AND CONVENTIONS - Definite articles with Count Nouns
As you remember, nouns refer to persons, places, things and ideas. Some nouns talk about things that can be counted, such as table or chair. These are called count nouns. Count nouns take different article depending on whether there is one or more of them. When you have one noun use these and those. Let's practice with this sentence---
The man sits near the curb. Ask, what nouns are in the sentence? (man ,curb)Now underline the nouns. What article is used in the sentence? (the) Would you use this or these to repace the? (this).
